For cases where we might not have the exact high prescription in stock, we provide the patient with a temporary pair that is close to their needs the same day.
We, then, order the precise lenses and swap them later when the precise lenses arrive. So, in essence, everyone gets a one hour glasses period!

Most local opticals only stock a limited range of lenses, usually basic prescriptions with minimal astigmatism. That’s what allows them to offer “same day” service at all.
But if your prescription is stronger or more complex, they simply don’t have the lenses on hand. So your order gets sent out to a lab, and now you’re waiting days.

In a practical sense: yes.
Here’s what that means:
– If your prescription falls within our in-stock range – We can typically make your final pair of glasses the same day, often in about an hour, with the type of lenses mentioned above.
– If your prescription is outside that range – That is not a problem. We don’t send you home empty-handed. Instead, we’ll provide you with a temporary pair that’s as close as possible to your prescription, so you can see clearly right away.
At the same time, we’ll order your exact lenses and have them ready within a few business days. When you come back, we swap them out at no extra charge.
We understand that sometimes it’s not just about convenience. Getting your hands on new eyewear can be urgent.
Broken glasses. Lost glasses. Work the next morning.
In those situations, our San Antonio optical team will do everything we can to make sure you leave with something you can see with that same day, whether that’s glasses or, in some cases, contact lenses if that’s a better option for you.
While we can complete many prescriptions the same day (including spherical powers up to approximately ±6.00 and astigmatism up to -4.00), some higher or specialty prescriptions may require custom lenses that take a few business days to produce.
In those cases, we’ll always make sure you’re not left without vision, whether that’s providing temporary lenses or contact lenses in the meantime.
Our 1 hr/same-day glasses service applies to single vision prescriptions. For progressive lenses, production typically takes 7–10 business days. However, we’ll provide a temporary pair (either for distance or near) at no additional cost, and once your progressives are ready, we’ll swap them out, also at no extra charge.
This promotion is available for private pay patients. For patients using insurance, timing can vary based on plan details. For the latter, we must first verify your benefits, determine any copays, and receive claim approval/payment from your insurance provider before releasing the final glasses, so same-day service cannot be guaranteed in those cases.
